In 2006, the girl, her younger sister and their widow mother had rented a room in Kurla belonging to one Khalil Khan. While the mother worked as a maid, the two girls mostly stayed at home after returning from school.

Two youth, Allah Rakha Asgar Ali Sayyed (20) and Munir Ali Sheikh (19) who stayed in the neighbourhood spotted the girl alone in the room and raped her. According to the Ghatkopar police, the accused had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

They repeatedly raped her and soon their friends Liyakat Khan (30) and Shukat Khan (24), the son of the house owner also began to exploit the girl. All the four accused raped her between 2006 and 2008.
