Two accused were sentenced to 10 years in prison, while the others got 7-year terms
The Sewree fast track court on Wednesday convicted four men for gang raping a 14-year-old girl in 2006. Two of the accused were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and the others were given seven-year terms.

The accused had repeatedly raped class seven students over two years before the Ghatkopar police arrested them in April 2008.

In 2006, the girl, her younger sister and their widow mother had rented a room in Kurla belonging to one Khalil Khan. While the mother worked as a maid, the two girls mostly stayed at home after returning from school.

Two youth, Allah Rakha Asgar Ali Sayyed (20) and Munir Ali Sheikh (19) who stayed in the neighbourhood spotted the girl alone in the room and raped her. According to the Ghatkopar police, the accused had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

They repeatedly raped her and soon their friends Liyakat Khan (30) and Shukat Khan (24), the son of the house owner also began to exploit the girl. All the four accused raped her between 2006 and 2008.

In April 2008, she discovered that she was pregnant and told her mother about it. A formal case was registered and the police arrested all four. While Sayyed and Sheikh were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment, the Khan brothers were sentenced to undergo 7 years.u00a0u00a0
