Four nabbed for petrol theft on Pune-Solapur highway

Loni Kalbhor police station officials nabbed four persons from Navi Mumbai for their alleged involvement in fuel theft by stopping vehicles that were registered with Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh RTO.

Primary investigations revealed that the gang used to sell the stolen fuel in the same area and Waghapur in Purandar taluka.

The accused were identified as Santosh Suryakant alias Maharaj Gaikwad (27), Yogesh Prem alias Prashant Neelkanth (19), Ajit Bapu alias Annasaheb Londhe (25), all from Navi Mumbai.

Their accomplices Sunil Prakash Wankhede, Ritesh Manohar alias Nilesh Kolaskar, Vijay alias Guddu Sinh, Ramesh Dhansingh Sonar alias Thapa are on the run.

Inspector N M Sarangkar said, “Londhe and Neelkanth, along with absconding accused, were staying in a rented room in Lonikand area for the last three months.

They have confessed to crimes like pilfering fuel on the Pune-Solapur highway by stopping vehicles, particularly with RTO registration numbers from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

They would sell the stolen fuel in the same area and Waghapur in Purandar taluka to local businessmen. A car was recovered from the accused. All the gang members have cases registered against them in Mumbai as well.” u00a0
