Police suspect it's a case of suicide over internal fracas

The bodies of four persons from a family were found in a decomposed state from their residence at Aditya Shagun society in Bavdhan around 8.30 pm yesterday. Police suspect it is a case of suicide reportedly over some fracas within the family.

In happy times: AT Naryana with wife Indira and sons Vishnuvardhan
and Madhusdan.

The deceased have been identified as AT Narayan, his wife Indira, son Vishnuvardhan and Madhusdan, all residing at Bavdhan. Vishnuvardhan was newly married to one Sangita, while Madhusudan was unmarried, said the police.

Cause unknown
Police Inspector Bhimrao Tele from the Hinjewadi police station said: "Although nothing suspicious was found in the flat, we suspect it's a case of suicide case. Neither strangulation marks were found on the bodies nor a bottle of poison was recovered from the flat.

Only medical reports will reveal the exact cause of death." Residents of the Aditya Shagun society noticed that a foul odour was coming out of Narayan's flat. They tried to pry open the flat but it was locked from inside. The scared residents then called up the police control room and alerted them about it.

A police constable Thakur got a keymaker to open the flat. Upon unlocking the door, Thakur and other residents saw four dead bodies lying on the floor in a decomposed state.

Thakur then informed his senior officials and the Hinjewadi police station about the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Dnyaneshwar Chavan visited the spot and ordered investigation into the matter. The bodies have been sent to the Sassoon hospital for post-mortem.

Family feud
According to primary information given by the neighbours, Sangita was insisting on moving out with her husband."Allegedly, the family members had disputes related to this issue and quarreled over it many times. This may be the reason for the suicide act, but facts will only be clear after interrogating relatives and friends," Tele said.

"The personal and professional background of the Narayan family could not be ascertained till late night. We have started collecting details about the Narayan family from the neighbours. We are also trying to get in touch with any relative or friends of the family who could provide us information regarding the family and their
background," he said.
