You might have dreamt of popping a wheelie or riding into the sunset, but the wrong set of wheels could leave you off the beaten track and straight in the dirt. "The right bike for the right person," says Rahul Mulani, owner of Gear, a bike shop located in Bandra.

City bike
This is your standard bicycle with upright seating and simple frame geometry. These bikes come without suspension and have thin tyres to reduce friction. They are ideal for commuting on city roads and dodging traffic.
Mountain bike
These are all terrain bikes that come built with a stronger frame and wider tyres. Equipped with front suspension but no rear suspension, the bike sports a hard tail for rough roads and greater sturdiness.
Road bike
The focus of the road bike is speed. Built to be sleek, the handlebars are inverted so the rider bends creating an aerodynamic position. The ideal racing bike it is available with diverse gear combinations. This is also the
most expensive, with bikes starting at Rs 30,000.
Hybrid bike
Similar to the city bike, this bike bears some features of a mountain bike. With regards to the width of the wheel, it is suitable for paved and unpaved roads. The hybrid may or may not have suspension, depending on the model.
Pedal power
