Convinced by their suave appearance, the building watchmen gave them access to the residential apartments.

The accused have been identified as Ajay Mahendra Singh (26), Arman Khan (22) and Ali Salim Mirza, while some of their accomplices are still absconding.
The Bangur Nagar police have produced them before the court and secured custody till July 23.

It is suspected that the accused might be involved in several other cases of robbery in Mumbai and Delhi. The cops are now coordinating with the Delhi police in an attempt to crack more cases.

An alert society member raised the alarm when she spotted the culprits leave after robbing one of the locked flats.

Noting that the youths did not belong to the society, she immediately asked the building watchman to shut the main gate of the building so they could not escape. She then called the police.

Society members rounded up the four criminals and within a minute, cops also came along.

While they managed to nab three, one of the robbers took advantage of the commotion and fled by jumping over the society’s boundary wall.

The robbers were decamping with cash worth Rs 50,000. Searching their bags, the cops found equipment that they had used to break into the fourth floor apartment.

According to Assistant Police Inspector Sandipan Pawar from Bangur Nagar police station, the robbers would mostly visit posh societies that house residences of well-known personalities. They would conduct a recce of the society to choose their target.

“When we caught the robbers, no one could tell they were criminals. They were dressed well and looked like they came from good families. They confessed many details about their strategies.

They told us that they would come from Delhi to loot homes, and stayed at Grant Road at the residence of a relative. After committing the crime, one of them would carry the booty back to Delhi,” added the cop. u00a0
