The Bombay High Court has quashed the FIR registered at the Marine Drive police station against businessman Bhavin Parekh (48) for molesting a 34-year-old woman, and also ordered his unconditional release.

mid-day had reported on Monday that an FIR had been registered in the incident, which had taken place at the Garware Club on Saturday night. Following the complaint, Parekh had been arrested and produced in the Esplanade Magistrate Court.

The quashing of the FIR was a result of the woman unconditionally withdrawing the allegations and imputations in her complaint. Officials said she withdrew the case as she was made aware of the entire circumstances, which had been misinterpreted, and she found them to be genuine.
