Congratulations pour in for new parents Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra; Gauri Khan among first few visitors at the hospital

It wasn't much of a surprise to see Gauri Khan walk into a SoBo hospital soon after Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra were blessed with a baby girl, the couple's first child. After all, Shah Rukh Khan is the filmmaker's closest buddy and while the star is busy promoting his next film, Gauri made sure that she was among the first few visitors to call on Bollywood's newest mommy and the little one, who has been christened Adira — a portmanteau of Aditya and Rani.

In a statement released by Yash Raj Films, Rani said, "Today, life has given us God's greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans, our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives"

Rani and Aditya got married in April 2014 in a private ceremony in Italy. In the last few months, a great deal of secrecy surrounded the actress' pregnancy with Rani shunning public appearance. Aditya's younger brother and actor Uday Chopra took to Twitter immediately after the delivery to announce: "IT's A GIRL!!!!!"
Congratulatory messages from B-Town folk poured in for the new parents on social media thereafter. Karan Johar shared: "Am an uncle to a beautiful baby girl today!!!!! @udaychopra !!! Rani and Adi had a baby girl!!"
Parineeti Chopra posted: "IT'S A GIRL !!!! So so excited baby Adira is born !!" while Rishi Kapoor said, "Rani and Aditya Chopra become proud parents to a baby girl named Adira. Congratulations!"
