Get your photos updated at polling stations on Sunday
Following the poor response that the drive to update voters' photographs on registration list garnered, and with the deadline coming closer, the district election department has decided to give it a final try and complete as much work as possible. Hence, the booth level officers (BLO) will now personally accept the photos of the voters across the district at the polling stations on Sunday
During the drive that started on April 1, a mere 1.42 lakh of the total 15 lakh voters who didn’t have their photos on the voters’ registration list have got their pictures updated.
“Despite spreading awareness among the voters, we got a low response. Our BLOs are even going door-to-door asking voters for their photographs.
However, they sending them back by giving various excuses. Therefore, the department decided to give it a last try before the drive ends,” said deputy district election officer Apurva Wankhde.
The drive of updating photos on voters’ registration list ends at June 30 following which the department will start publishing the list for poll booths.
