The huge rodents are causing nightmares for exhibitors at a garden party being held by the Prince -- by greedily devouring their prized fruit and vegetables. One cheesed-off stallholder said, "We've lost strawberries and our tomatoes got nibbled overnight -- it's all down to the rats."
Charles (61), and wife Camilla (63), visited the 12-day bash to promote Start -- the Prince's tour pushing sustainability.
The couple, joined by guests including Brian Blessed and Jools Holland, wept with laughter at a cat organ
of squeaky toys performing Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
But last night, a Clarence House source said that the rodents were considered no laughing matter and were in fact a big nuisance.
They revealed, "The rats have become more of a problem. There seem to be more, and they are getting bigger. Because we're organic we can't get rid of them by using too many rat killers."
