The JJ Marg police have arrested a youth for molesting and threatening a college-going minor girl. The man had made several attempts to propose to her and when the girl spurned his advances, he cracked an egg on her head.
According to police, the accused, Mohammed Owais Aslam Quraishi (19) is a resident of Mahim and had been trying to woo the 15-year-old girl for a month. The girl is a resident of Gol Deval, JJ Marg and attends college at Mazgaon.u00a0
According to police, Quraishi used to follow the girl home from college and pester her to go out with him. When she ignored his advances, Quraishi threatened her, saying, “Tu isliye mujhe bhav nahin deti kyonki tujhe apne husn par bahut gurur hai (You do not give me importance because you are arrogant about your looks).”

On December 19, Quraishi approached her with a new proposal, telling her that if she was unwilling to be with him, he was ready to fix her up with one of his friends, provided she did the same for him.

The next day, he met her again at Ismail Merchant Chowk. Frustrated with her frequent rejection, he molested her and smashed an egg on her head. He also threatened to kill her if she continued to reject his proposals.
Fearing for her life, the girl narrated the incident to her parents, who approached the JJ Marg police on the same day. Police registered an offence and arrested Quraishi.
“We have arrested Quraishi under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC,” said Shashikant Surve, senior inspector, JJ Marg police station.u00a0
