Hardcore Christmas shoppers on Hill Road would have heard of Raave's, a Christmas decorations company from Chennai that does a pop-up every year. It's your one-stop destination for Christmas décor, be it figurines for the crib or large trees. We love the elf jumper bauble (right) and glitter ribbons (prices start at Rs 200). If you've got some extra dough to spend, pick up a light sculpture (Rs 4,500) in the shape of a reindeer, snowman or a Santa sleigh.

For: Gift wrapping, pocket-friendly baubles
Christmas is incomplete without gifts and for wrappers that are as good as the gifts, Cheap Jack is the place to be. From Christmas jumper patterns ('50 for 2mt) to cutesy Santa prints, stationery lovers are sure to go on a binge. We also liked their tiny, glittery Christmas tree candles (Rs 30 per piece, in pic below) that are too pretty to light. Head upstairs to Something Special for ceramic Santa mugs, bells and polar bear candle holders (Rs 400).

For: Musical Christmas trees and mini snowman lights
The sound of carols pulls us into this store (which has two outlets on the street) and we are delighted to find that it's a musical, moving Christmas tree, which plays Yuletide tunes and moves its boughs when you clap (Rs 9,500 onwards, tree with the red base in pic below). Another favourite is a mini snowman (in pic right) light that is perfect for workspace decoration for those who won't be at home on December 25. For larger decorations to place around your Christmas tree, pick the wire mesh gold giftbox set of three (above) that comes with lights (Rs 3,500), or a reindeer light (Rs 4,500). The ceramic Santa or angel hangings make for an all-year-round keepsake and a great gift too. Home delivery is available on request.
