Cops open fire in 'self-defence', say culprits' car tried to mow down constable 3 days ago
The goons who tried to mow down a policeman near Bhosari three days ago, attacked a patrolling party on Sunday midnight, forcing the cops to open fire in "self-defence".Constable Shailesh Kalbhor said, "There were three armed men who threatened to kill us. When a colleague opened fire at them in self-defence, the
trio, who were in a Sumo, sped away towards the highway."
On Sunday, Constable Mahadev Javale received information from Police Control Room about a suspicious vehicle, which had tried to mow down a constable at Bhosari recently. When the patrolling party tired to intercept the vehicle, three men jumped out of the Sumo wielding naked swords and started heading towards
the cops, apparently to kill them.
Jawale grabbed his carbine and opened fired in order to disperse them. Taken aback by the sudden firing, the
gang of five unidentified persons fled the scene in their SUV. ACP Sudhir Chaugule of Pimpari division said, "We have got clues about the owner of the Sumo which had fake registration number. We will arrest the culprits soon. The same vehicle was used by the criminals who unsuccessfully tried to mow down a constable at Bhosari."
