Gowns seem to be all rage in 2015

Gowns are becoming a favourite of Bollywood divas like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor on the red carpet. Fashion designers, Nikhil Mehra (of Shantanu-Nikhil) and Hemant Sagar (of Lecoanet Hemant) forecast gown trends for 2015.

Silhouette show
Kareena Kapoor

“Gowns with detailing at the waist to accentuate the curves of the hips will be in vogue. We can expect a lot of layering as well,” says Hemant. According to Nikhil, “I hope to see gowns with trails on the red carpet. The styling will be minimal.”

Satin touch
Priyanka Chopra

Nikhil says, “I think satin will be the fabric of choice for gowns. Satins give off a vibe of luxury and seduction, which our ladies love.” Chiffons, crepes and georgettes will be other favourites.

Stylish hues
Jacqueline Fernandez
Nikhil says, “I hope to see a lot of gowns in red and pink. Beige and blush pink are two colours to watch out for.” Hemant adds, “I feel ladies will opt for gown in bright Indian hues as well.”

Hint of sexiness
Malaika Arora Khan

Hemant opines, “We will see gowns with a sheer effect. I think the slits will be back too. The off-shoulder gown is here to stay.”

Dreamy feel
Yaami Gautam

“I think gowns will be extremely feminine in 2015 — like straight out of a dream sequence. The necklines will be simple,” opines Nikhil.
