Groove on the dance floor
DJ Ben Gold will kick off his debut India Tour on August 30 in the city. He is travelling with a "bag full of tunes that will make you bounce," he promises
A regular feature on ASOT Trance 500, 500 and 600 -- a radio show by Armin van Buuren -- 25-year-old Ben Gold’s new track Mesocyclone has already gained support from artistes, musicians and DJs from all over the world. The studio engineer, producer, and DJ will be hosted in India by event and artiste management company, Power Struggle Music, during the Ben Gold India tour. Gold spoke about his music and inspiration. Excerpts from the interview:
This is your first trip to India. What are your expectations?
Yes it is, and I’m so excited. I have heard many great things from my fellow DJs about their experiences of performing in India. So, I have high expectations, but I am confident they will be fulfilled.
Tell us about Mesocyclone?
It’s the name of one of my personal favourite tracks. It’s also a vortex of air in a convective storm.
What kind of music are you looking at playing in India?
I make it my mission to find exclusive music for my DJ sets from both established and up-and-coming artistes, as well brand new Ben Gold music. I’ll be playing a lot of Trance.
Have you studied the music scene here?
I always look to connect with people whether I’m playing at a new show, or a show I’ve already played. I spend a lot of time on my own at airports, on flights and in hotel rooms, all to be able to perform all over the world; it’s worth every second! My Macbook is a mini version of my studio, so I’m able to work on set-ups and ideas for new tunes even during my tours. I go to the gym as often as I can, it’s important to stay fit and healthy when travelling every weekend.
Where do you get your inspiration from to make your music?
The dance floor.
Tell us a bit about your ASOT experience.
Playing at any ASOT party is always a highlight in your career. They put you on the biggest trance parties in the world. I spend time making and sourcing exclusive new material for my sets at ASOT. It’s a good opportunity to showcase your new music to the world.
