Rahul Sharma told WHAT's ON he has something special planned for the Shaniwarwada festival

This year marks the eighth Shaniwarwada Dance and Music Festival. The festival will pay tribute to noted Kathak exponent late Rohini Bhate, who passed away last year. Rahul Sharma, who will be performing there, is a versatile Santoor player in his own right.

What are you planning for your performance?
Sharma:
I don't plan beforehand; I choose my music on the day of the performance. But I will be playing something special. In the first half, it will be classical music followed by light classical music.

Do you think this will be a special experience?
Sharma:
This is the first time I will be performing at the festival and I am looking forward to it.u00a0

What do you think about the crowds in Pune?
Sharma:
I always found it a delight to perform here. The last time, when I played here at the Savai Gandharva Sangeet Mohotsav, so many students came backstage to meet me.

How would you comment on today's youth and their attitude to music?
Sharma:
Today, there is enough space for all genres of music to flourish. I can refer to some of my experimental music, such as The Confluence with pianist Richard Clayderman, which was received well.

At: Shanivarwada Lawns.
On: February 21 and 22, from 7 pm onwards.
