GUJCET is the examination/test which students need to take if they are planning to get admission into medical, dental and pharmacy colleges in Gujarat. This GUJCET examnication is conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB www gseb org), the board which also conducts the SSC and HSC exams in the state. The test is mandatory if you are looking to get admission to undergraduate medical and paramedical courses.

This year, GUJCET 2014 was conducted on May 8 and approximately 47,000 took the test. It was conducted at 194 centres in 33 districts across Gujarat. This year, girls outnumber the boys in number of students. The girls students taking the exam were 28,661 while the boys were 18,349. Out of the total students taking the exam, 37,644 belonged to Gujarati medium while only 9,015 students belonged to English medium. 3,456 students were from boards other than GSEB.

This year, Class 1 officers were hired to be as observers in the exam halls in order to ensure no cheating during the three hour long GUJCET exam. The GSEB was very strict this time having two supervisors for each exam classrooms. Mobile phones were not allowed for students as well the supervisors. The students were not even allowed scientific calculators in the classroom.

The GUJCET paper generally comprises of 3 sections ie. Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each section will have 120 questions and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong anser.

Surat leads in the district wise students by having 4272 students from there while Dang distict had the lowest number of mere 157 students.

The GUJCET Merit list is prepared based on marks obtained by studnets in subjects Physics, Chemisty and Biology in HSC (Class 12) exam and marks obtained in GUJCET. 60% weightage is given to Class 12 marks and 40% weightage is given to GUJCET marks.
