Gymnast Simone Biles guns for graduation degree with MBA course
USA's most decorated gymnast Simone Biles signs up for MBA course to get her hands on that missing graduation degree
World champion and Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, has five Olympics medals, 14 World Championship medals and 19 National Championships medals but there's still something important missing from her CV -- a college degree. And that's something the teenage gymnastics star wants to get her hands on.
America's most decorated gymnast has enrolled for a degree in Business Administration at University of the People, a non-profit, university. Biles, 19, had planned to undertake a degree course at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) just before the 2016 Rio Olympics but her hectic training schedule meant that she was unabe to study full time.
"I could have picked any time, but I think this is a good time to start," Biles told VOA (Voice of America) News. "I haven't had a traditional school experience, actually going and sitting in a classroom. The traditional way won't work for me, so online it is," said Biles, who was homeschooled through high school.
Going forward, Biles is eyeing a career in the corporate world.
"I've always wanted to work in the business industry. My mom has worked in business and my brothers, too, and they've been very good at what they've done, so hopefully I will, too," she said.
