Akash and Aman share spoils for Bandra school as Lilavatibai Podar are beaten by 200 runs

Rizvi Springfield achieved a 200-run win over RN Podar in the third round of the MSSA-organised Harris Shield tournament yesterday.

Batting first at Oval Maidan, the defending champs scored 271 thanks to Arshad Shaikh (55) and Ayaz Khan (47). Podar's left-arm spinner Ayush Sharma claimed 6-130 before his team were bowled out for 71.

Medium pacer Akash Yadav (5-44) and left-arm spinner Aman Maniyar (4-4 in three overs) shared the spoils.

Aman, who was the 14th man of his team, couldn't have asked for a better birthday present than a thumping win for Rizvi. Abbas Karachiwala was another cricketer who had a memorable day. Playing for Lilavati Podar, he scored 37 in his side's total of 232 for 8 in 45 overs. Later, he claimed 5 for 74 which included a hat-trick while Parle Tilak (English) were bowled out for 176. Abbas' teammate Yashodhan D too bagged a hat-trick.

Ton for Tatsat Singh
The batting honours for Lilavatibai Podar went to Tatsat Singh, who scored an unbeaten 103 in the 56-run win. The centurions of the day were Sanket Gawari (106 not out) for Balmohan (Marathi) and Adarsh Patil (113) for Shardashram (English).

Both were match winning knocks against Billabong (Mahim) and Balmohan Vidyamandir (English) respectively.
