IES VN Sule Guruji (Dadar) skipper Shreyas Kemkar's all-round performance put them in the driver's seat against St Mary's ICSE (Mazagaon) on Day One of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association-Mumbai Indians Harris Shield Elite Division first round match at Azad Maidan yesterday
Having elected to bat after winning the toss, St Mary’s were stunningly bundled out for a paltry 18 runs with IES’ bowling trio of off-spinner Shreyas (three for two), left-arm-spinner Heramb Parab (three for none) and pacer Atharva Chavan (three for six runs) doing the damage.

Opening batsman Yash Bhojane then gave the Dadar school a good start scoring 112 off 146 balls with 21 boundaries en route. Shreyas then carried on his fine show, this time with the bat, and went on to score an unbeaten 104 off just 96 balls (15 fours) as IES ended the day on 324-2. The Class X student is glad to see his team begin the Harris Shield season on a positive note. “It has been a good start for us. Last year, we came close to winning the title, but lost to Rizvi Springfield by virtue of an inferior quotient. But I am confident that if we keep playing like we did today, we can do well this year,” said Shreyas.
