Two days after the police filed a complaint against the Shiv Sena for exceeding sound limits at Shivaji Park ufffd a silent zone ufffd during their Dussehra rally, the High Court yesterday sought the party's reply on allegations levelled against it for flouting the sound limits and a High Court order allowing the Sena to hold the rally.
NGO Wecom Trust, who had initially requested that Shivaji Park be declared a silent zone, filed the affidavit. The NGO in its affidavit claims that the party committed various breaches of the High Court’s order and noise pollution norms.u00a0
On October 15, the Mumbai High Court had granted the Shiv Sena permission to hold the October 24 rally at the grounds on the condition that no loudspeakers would be used and distributive sound systems would be installed.

However, according to the affidavit filed by the NGO, “Two loudspeakers were put up on the stage. The decibel levels on the day of the rally were more than 70 dB.”
The affidavit further states that the political party had barricaded only four cricket pitches on the ground. A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice N M Jamdar directed the political party to file its affidavit in response to the allegations on November 5.
