We have witnessed various facets of Hindi film star Amitabh Bachchan over the years -- from his angry man look to his lovelorn avatar. Now revisit his era with a collection of caricatures created by artist Sagar Pawar.

“This is a tribute to superstar Amitabh Bachchan,” says Pawar, adding, “I have made caricatures of nearly all the characters he has portrayed in his films. I have been watching his films since childhood and have always been in awe of his on-screen presence, attires and those evergreen poses. Hence, I decided to pay him a tribute and started making these caricatures.”

The exhibition includes 71 caricatures of the Indian superstar. Throwing light on the process of creating this mammoth collection, Pawar reveals, “A single caricature took me around 3-4 hours to make. Though making an outline is an easy process lasting for 15-20 minutes, it is very difficult to put multiple layers of pencil colours. Though I have focussed on some recognisable characteristics like the actor’s height and face, I have not tried to make them funny. The poses like the one in the film Agneepath and the ones in Don, needed intensity and I have tried to maintain that.”

The caricatures are 20x30 (inches) in size and made in a coloured format. Pawar has also sent few print outs to the Bachchan family.

The exhibition will also showcase rare photographs, postcards and articles collected by Sanjay Lahoti. “I have been collecting every magazine article and photograph of his, since 1972. There will be 2,000 plus such articles put up in the exhibition. Postcards with his pictures on it from 80s and 90s are the most memorable in my collection. After so many decades, the superstar has still got a tremendous fan following. I want his fans from the city to come and witness some nostalgic moments through this exhibition,” says Lahoti.
