The new line-up of superhero flicks revealed at Comic Con will see first timers slipping into iconic costumes and saving the world

Here are the 5 most anticipated superhero films!

The Comic Con has always been a unique place where fans, creators and actors come under one roof as equals. This year round, the massive and chaotic event became a sort of head office for exclusive trailers, flashy soundtracks, cast announcements and launches that one can't keep track of.

For comic books-turned-into-movies enthusiasts, two pioneers — Marvel and DC —unleashed an avalanche of trailers, almost breaking the Internet. This edition of Comic Con revisited the classic King Kong's home, trailer of the much-awaited Justice League, and confirmation of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

Unveiled at the event was a slate of first-time comic book adaptations for the big screen. We give you a lowdown of the five most anticipated films:

There was speculation galore about Brie Larson taking on the role in Marvel's first female-led superhero movie and a confirmation sent fans into a tizzy. Larson, who won an Oscar for Room earlier this year, is known to play unconventional characters and will bring the much loved feminist icon to the big screen for the first time.

Wonder Woman

She is not new to the comic book/ TV lover. Yet, it has taken over three-quarters of a century (Wonder Woman is 75 years old) to get the character to the big screen. It's been
over a decade since a renowned film studio invested in a solo female superhero film. Gal Gadot, who had a bit  role as the Amazon princess in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will portray the iconic character.

Black Panther
Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman made his first appearance as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. Now his character's first solo outing is turning out to be, debatably, the most anticipated superhero movie to date. Michael B Jordan will play the baddie, Erik Killmonger, while Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o will be seen as Nakia.

Doctor Strange

Various incarnations have been in the works since the mid '80s, but now we will finally see the story of a former neurosurgeon, who is granted magical powers by a hermit following a car accident. It releases in November. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange.

Aquaman
Aquaman
He's a superhero who has endured endless mockery over the years. But, with a director like James Wan (The Conjuring and Furious 7), one can expect magic. Jason Momoa will feature as the half-human, half-Atlantean superhero who fights underwater crime.
