A few months ago, Rakhi Sawant addressed media that she would expose Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a biopic on Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief's adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan. However, on January 3, 2018, the controversial actress was slapped by a Rs 5 crore defamation legal notice from Honeypreet's mother Asha Taneja. Honeypreet's mother has accused Rakhi of defaming her daughter for cheap publicity by making unsubstantiated allegations against her and her father Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim Insaan.

However, Rakhi has decided to hit back hard. As Reported by The Quint, Rakhi said, "This is all planned not by Honeypreet's mother but by her lawyer Momin Malik who is instigating Honeypreet's mother for money and cheap publicity, His logic for this absurd notice is to get some money for Honeypreet's mother whose daughter is in jail by extracting Rs. 5 crores from Rakhi Sawant. But Rakhi Sawant is not a fool. I've all the evidence regarding my allegations against Honeypreet and her father and I am going to present it in court. If they are suing me for Rs 5 crores they've to deposit Rs 5 lakhs in the court. I am going to sue them for Rs 20 crores and I've the Rs. 20 lakhs ready to be deposited."

Talking about the film, Rakhi had told IANS earlier, "I'm playing Honeypreet as I have known her for seven to eight years. I know everything about her. My brother Rakesh Sawant and I are producing the film."

The sect chief has been jailed since August 25, 2017 when he was convicted by the CBI court in Panchkula on two counts of rape of female disciples in 1999. He has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of over Rs 30 lakh.
