Lee Chong Wei, who demolished compatriot Daren Liew in his maiden IBL appearance against Delhi Smashers is thrilled to have met batting legend Sachin Tendulkar at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Stadium in Worli on Tuesday.

“It was the first time I met him (Tendulkar) and spoke to him casually after my match. Even though I have never seen a cricket match, I hope to see him play one day,” said Wei.

The Malaysian ace was thrilled that Mumbai Masters were able to pull off an impressive 4-1 win that catapulted them to the top of the table along with Hyderabad Hotshots at 11 points.

“I am happy that we were able to register a comfortable win over Delhi and hopefully we will be able to continue doing that in the remaining games,” said the World No 1.

Speaking of his mixed doubles pairing with Denmark’s Tine Baun, and beating the Delhi pair of V Diju and Prajakta Sawant 21-18 15-21 11-5, Wei said, “I just play (doubles) in local tournaments... or for fun during training. This is the first time I played with Tine. We didn’t practice much.”
