How Daniel Craig transformed into 'ultimate sex symbol'
The image of Daniel Craig emerging from the sea in tight swimming trunks as James Bond in 2006 hit 'Casino Royale,' turned the son of a Merseyside pub landlord into one of the greatest screen heart-throbs of all time.
His brooding performance in the Bond sequel ‘Quantum of Solace’ weakened knees still further. And as ‘Skyfall’ hits theatres on Friday, millions of female hearts will be fluttering.
Married to actress Rachel Weisz after a whirlwind romance, the 44-year-old actor has a history with beautiful and famous women, including Kate Moss and Sienna Miller.
‘Tomb Raider’ co-star Angelina Jolie called Craig the best kisser in the business and his Bond boss Dame Judi Dench was dazzled when she saw him wandering naked outside his trailer on set of ‘Casino Royale.’
New Bond girl Severine, played by Berenice Marlohe, has also been won over by his charms. “His sexiness has intensified with his status as Bond, but he is also very charming, a true gentleman,” the Mirror quoted Marlohe as saying.
“We have a steamy shower scene in Skyfall and it helped that he has a beautiful sense of humour. “It is important to be able to laugh because then you feel relaxed and it’s easier to make the audience believe what you are doing is truthful,” she said.
But Craig, who works out for seven hours a day, admitted that he will never get used to stripping-off for sex scenes – and finds it all a bit embarrassing. “I don’t care how many times I have to do it. It’s going to be harder and harder the older I get,” he said. “It’s not like I go out there to be a sex symbol. It’s nice of course – but embarrassing,” he added.
