A day after MiD DAY’s article on Tiger’s apparent desertion at the Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit (BSDP) Hospital at Parel, management of the Hunter Security Force has requested the hospital to keep the dog with them until his death. The firm has also pledged to pay the cost of his dwelling -- Rs 4,000 a month -- until his life ends.

Yesterday, MiD DAY carried a report on Tiger (‘Blind sniffer dog abandoned by firm at animal hospital’) which highlighted how irked officials of BSDP Hospital had sent a legal notice to the security firm, headquartered in Wadala, for admitting the dog for an injury in May and not taking him back till date. Following the report, Deepak Shirsat, Manager (operation), Hunter Security Force, met Dr J C Khanna, in-charge of BSDP, and Dr Mayur Danger, the manager of the hospital. Shirsat said that as tiger had become incurably blind due to age, he was useless for him.
He also requested Khanna and Danger to keep the dog in the hospital until the end of his days and agreed to pay the cost till then. “Shirsat proposed that he would pay the lodging, boarding and caretaking charges. Normally, we charge Rs 9,000 per month, but for Tiger, we will charge Rs 4,000 only,” said Dr Khanna.u00a0

“On Thursday, we met the doctors and paid the dues. The hospital management requested us to keep the dog in their hospital. We accepted their request. We will pay Rs 4,000 per month as lodging, boarding and caretaking charges,” said Deepak Shirsat, manager (op), Hunter Security Force.u00a0
