New Delhi: Lending Rs 10 to someone proved fatal for a 42-year-old woman as her husband stabbed her to death after an argument broke out between them over the petty sum in West Delhi's Nangloi area.

The accused husband, identified as Ashok (61) was arrested from the spot after a neighbour made a PCR call about the argument between the couple. The incident took place yesterday afternoon at around 2 pm when Ashok was told by his wife Rani that she has lent Rs 10 to someone.

An argument broke out between them over the issue which soon turned ugly as Rani slapped Ashok, police said. "In a fit of rage, Ashok went to the kitchen and brought a knife from there and repeatedly stabbed her killing her on the spot," said a police official.

A neighbour made a PCR call after Ashok's brother Rajesh told him that there was a fracas at his house. "When a police team reached the spot, Ashok was found standing near Rani's body which lying in a pool of blood. He was apprehended from the spot and admitted to have stabbed the victim in a fit of rage," he added.

Police has registered a case of murder at Nangloi Police station and the accused has been arrested. The weapon of offence was recovered from the spot, he said. Ashok had married Rani a few years ago after he separated from his first wife.

It was a second marriage for Rani too who had moved in with her two sons, aged eight and six years, born from her first husband. The children had gone to school when the incident occurred.
