As the time for Illuminate NYE to hit Mumbai, draws closer, Dance music buffs in the city can count down to this adrenalin-packed extravaganza that features some of the leading DJs handpicked from across the globe. We caught up with sensational female DJ Megan Richards who shares about her transition from model to DJ, her favourite gigs and inspirations at the console.

You began your career as a model; how did you become a DJ?
I always had an interest in House music and DJing since I was a child. One day, I was speaking to a friend in the music industry about it, and he offered to teach me how to DJ. So, it began.
You’ve been voted the sexiest DJ; do you wish for people to appreciate your music more?
Absolutely. It’s a very flattering title... But I feel I always have to go the extra mile to prove myself as a DJ because of it.
Your favourite live performance so far?
I have had so many amazing ones that it’s hard to choose. But I played in Mexico in front of a huge energetic crowd and it was really awesome. That was one of my favourites.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox, Frankie Knuckles, Tiesto and many more.
What can Mumbai’s crowd expect from DJ Megan Daniels?
I love high energy music that will make the crowd want to get up and dance... So, they can expect me to bring the energy!
