The Indian Consulate in Dubai threw cold water on Gerard Butler's desi birthday plans, as he did not have the necessary papers

I must admit I'm very disorganised: Gerard Butler

It was quite a bummer of a birthday for Gerard Butler, who was trying to fly into India to celebrate his big day on November 13. The actor was turned away by the Indian Consulate in Dubai, as the necessary paperwork was not going to be available in time.u00a0

A source close to the actor says, “Gerard wanted to celebrate his 43rd birthday in India. He even headed to the Indian Consulate in Dubai for a travel permit but had to abandon his plan when he was told the required documents would not be available for a week.”

The 300 actor was in Dubai for an event where he also rubbed shoulder with Kajol. The source adds, “Perhaps that’s when the idea of visiting India came up. However, Gerard has been to the country before and at that point in time, Priyanka Chopra hosted the blue-eyed actor leading to endless speculations of romance between them.”

Gerard revealed what went wrong with his India plans — owing to which he decided to go to Scotland for the big day. “I must admit that I’m very disorganised so at the last minute here in Dubai, I decided I wanted to go to India for my birthday. At the consulate, they were excited to see me but they said no as I didn’t have the prerequisite papers. They said it would take at least seven more days,” states Gerard. Better luck next time…u00a0
