Purab Kohli talks about spending 17 years in Bollywood and his upcoming film 'Fatso'

I still haven't got my due, says Purab

Purab Kohli is quite upbeat about new film Fatso that releases across the country today. Calling it a brilliant film by Rajat Kapoor, the actor says, “I do films because they appeal to my creative sensibility and give scope as an actor.”

While Fatso has been made on a small budget, Purab feels that even if it doesn’t become a blockbuster, it has a great script and good talent, apart from a lot of effort that has been put in while making it. Speaking about what makes him sign a film, Purab points out, “As an actor, I always seek an interesting role.

May be that is why I don’t have too many mainstream films to my credit. I see a lot of actors projected in roles that I know I could do better and that builds frustration. But at the end of the day I know there is so much to showcase and explore.”

Speaking about the kind of filmmakers that he likes to work with, the actor says, “I have reached a point where only a certain kind of filmmakers approach me – filmmakers who just don’t want me to fill up the space but also add to the scene.”

Having been in the industry since he was 17, Purab rues about not getting his due. He points out, “I have grown up in this business. I have been here for a long time and still haven’t got my due. Nobody wants to take a risk in the industry. I am insecure but I am happy as long as I am doing films that match my sensibilities. u00a0
