In a veiled warning against inspector Parmeshwar Ganame — accused of showing porn clips to a woman while registering her rape FIR — Police Commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar said, “I will not spare that officer,” during the Mumbai police’s crime conference meeting on Monday.

The top cop came down heavily on the officers present at the conference and said he is very unhappy with the work done by the Mumbai police, deeming it below satisfactory.

While addressing the officers, Padsalgikar remembered the Oshiwara incident and said, “I will not spare that cop and set an example,” according to an IPS officer who attended the conference. He did not name the inspector, but asked for strict action against him.

The crime conference takes place every month with senior police inspectors from all police stations in attendance. Both good and below par performance of the department is discussed in the conference and the commissioner himself addresses it.

Unhappy
An hour after the CP remarked on the Oshiwara cop, the lights went off in the place where the conference was going on.

The IPS officer said, “As soon as the lights went off, commissioner said, ‘Mumbai police ka kaam andhere mein chalta hai. Yeh upar wale ko bhi manzoor nahi, isliye ye narazgi dikhai’ (Mumbai police works in the dark, and even god seems to disapprove of it, and this is how he is showing his disappointment).

The CP also said the cops are not doing good work and aren’t treating the public very well, “I will not tolerate any misbehaviour or misconduct with the public. I will take stringent action. Please do good work for public, speed up preventive action and detection work.”
