ICC to present Test mace to Graeme Smith at The Wanderers on Thursday
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday said that the Reliance ICC Test Championship mace and a cheque of USD450,000 will be given to South Africa cricket captain Graeme Smith at The Wanderers on Thursday (March 28).
In a statement, the ICC said that the ceremony will take place at the Long Room Extension and the presentation will be made by Vince van der Bijl, former Natal, Transvaal and Middlesex fast bowler and currently ICC’s Umpires and Referees Manager as well as Cricket South Africa (CSA) President and ICC Director Chris Nenzani.
Smith will accept the mace and the cheque on behalf of CSA for leading his side to the top of the Reliance ICC Test Championship table on the 1 April cut-off date.
There will be a photo opportunity, which will be followed by a brief question-and-answer session with Smith and other dignitaries, the statement said.
