IIMUN food poisoning: Box8 slapped with FDA notice over filthy kitchen

The Food and Drug Association (FDA) has sent a notice to food delivery firm Box8 in connection with stale food provided by them at the Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) event

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent a notice to Box8 on Saturday evening in connection with the stale food provided by them at the Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) event. Box8 is currently in a soup after 300-400 attendees at the event fell ill after consuming the meal provided by them on Thursday.

The decision to issue a notice was taken after FDA inspectors raided the company’s Thane-based kitchen on Friday. The company has been given a period of 15 days to rectify the flaws in the kitchen pointed out to them by the agency.

Confirming the development, assistant commissioner (food), zone 1, Krishna Dabhade said, “After the inspection of Box8’s kitchen in Thane, it was found not complying with several parameters required to be followed
by any standard kitchen. They have been given 15 days to rectify their flaws else, their license can face serious action.”

The PR agency of Box8 was contacted for a statement from the company on the development, but did not respond till the time of going to press.
