French President Francois Hollande on Monday said his visit to India was aimed at strengthening and reinforcing "the cooperation against terrorism between our two countries"

New Delhi: French President Francois Hollande on Monday said his visit to India was aimed at strengthening and reinforcing "the cooperation against terrorism between our two countries".


"Today, there are all kind of terrorist threats that are hovering around countries such as India and France and one of the main aims of my visit here is to reinforce and strengthen the cooperation against terrorism between our two countries," Hollande said here.

He also said India and France will "work to improve economic relations in the field of agriculture and space".

The French president was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here on his second day of his three-day visit to India.

Hollande said he was honoured to be the chief guest at the Republic Day in India.

Hollande began his visit on Sunday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke protocol to welcome him at Chandigarh.
