Former England wicketkeeper Paul Nixon has triggered controversy by alleging that the third ODI at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on Sunday was fixed and that the Pakistan team deliberately threw the game since they had already won the series.
Matches between arch-rivals India and Pakistan inevitably generate contoversies and the just-concluded Indo-Pak ODI series is no exception.
Former England wicketkeeper Paul Nixon has sparked controversy by alleging that the third one-day international between India and Pakistan at New Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Sunday was fixed and that the Pakistani players had deliberately thrown the dead rubber.

"Pakistan throwing this game away eh ! #thereisasurprise 24 from 24 ... Strangely my money is on India $$$$ from here ... Watch this space," tweeted Nixon even as the Pakistan team collapsed from 113/4 in the 34th over and lost their last six wickets for a mere 38 runs to hand India a 10-run consolation win.
The former Leicestershire cricketer claimed that Pakistan team deliberately threw the last game as they had already won the series. "Pakistan will just loose last few balls ..."
When asked by a follower whether the match was fixed, the 42-year-old replied, “r u watching the game ???"

He also retweeted several tweets from his followers, including these two, "It must be India's 12th Man.....the Bookmaker!" and "This game is a joke especially when u see hafeez play a lap sweep with a leg slip in place."
Nixon, who played 19 ODIs and one Twenty20 International for England in 2007, including the World Cup in the Caribbean, went on to suggest that it was no big deal for Pakistan to throw the final match of the series when they had already clinched the series.
“2-0 up perfect to loose nothing matters,” he tweeted in reply to a follower who questioned his assertion. Nixon used hashtags like #somethingnotright and #dodgey.
In June 2012, Nixon had claimed in his book "Keeping Quiet - Paul Nixon" that he was offered five million dollars by an Indian bookie spot-fix matches in a domestic T20 match in England.
In a write-up for the Daily Mail, Nixon had claimed that an Indian bookie identified only as "K" met him in May 2010 to discuss the offer.u00a0He had further alleged that this "K" had told him that the IPL was a competition that "wasn't as sweet and innocent as it looked."
