Pune: Most of the races on Saturday's ten-race card are devoted to the racing press which has, over several decades, done a wonderful job of promoting the sport of horse racing.
Besides the Fourth Estate Trophy which is billed as the feature event, there are also trophies in the name of two renowned racing correspondents, D N Zodge and Cecil Hendricks, the latter more famously known as "Pegasus" who set exemplary standards of race reporting in mid-day's pages before I took over as racing correspondent of this publication after his death in 1995. There is also the Pune Racing Journalists Trophy on today's card which has two well-filled divisions. Overall, the Saturday card promises to be a competitive affair.

For the prime event, the Fourth Estate Trophy for class I horses, I nominate Intelligence, trained by Vishal Gaikwad. This four-year-old filly posted a stylish victory on this track despite returning to racing after a longish lay-off almost seven months, and is expected to provide an encore in the hands of jockey Trevor Patel.
