Balvinder Singh Sandhu has slammed Mumbai Indians' Kieron Pollard for his Twitter comments on Sanjay Manjrekar, who expressed his doubts over whether Pollard was best-suited batting in the top order during commentary on Sunday night when Mumbai Indians clashed with Kolkata Knight Riders.

Manjrekar criticised Pollard, saying that he was only good enough to bat for the last six or seven overs of an innings. Pollard was dismissed for a run-a-ball 17.

After the game, which Mumbai Indians won by four wickets, Pollard slammed Manjrekar, terming his commentary as verbal diarrhoea. "@sanjaymanjrekar u feel any positive can come out of your mouth bcuz u get pay to talk u can continue with your verbal diarrhea," tweeted the West Indian from Trinidad.

Sandhu, the 1983 World Cupper, who formed a successful coach-captain combination for Mumbai to win the Ranji Trophy in 1996-97, hit back at Pollard on Facebook yesterday evening.

"Slogger of T20 can't handle comments from a thinking Test cricketer. Jab aukat se jada milta hain toh (when you get more than your ability deserves…) this happens," wrote Sandhu on Facebook. Later, Sandhu told mid-day that Manjrekar was spot-on in his assessment of Pollard.

"He (Pollard) does not have the game to play for more than three overs. That's why he is not playing for the West Indies in Test and ODI cricket. Even my maan — the term I use for Sir Viv Richards — was arrogant, but that arrogance stemmed from his awesome ability. What ability does Pollard have?" asked Sandhu.
