It's now or never for Kings XI Punjab!
A loss today to Royal Challengers Bangalore would end Adam Gilchrist's side's chances of qualifying for the playoffs
It will be David versus Goliath when laggards Kings XI Punjab will take on the formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League game today.
With play-offs approaching, Punjab have tasted victory on just four occasions out of 10 and another loss would mean their chances to qualify would be slim.
Against RCB, the team which is oozing in confidence, Punjab are once again likely to field without their regular skipper Adam Gilchrist. With seven wins in 11 games, RCB are clearly the favourites with the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in the ranks.
While RCB have been unbeaten at home, by beating Pune in their own den on Thursday, they shrugged off the tag of poor travellers.
Punjab on the other hand, are coming off a loss against Chennai. Shaun Marsh and David Miller will be the key for Punjab’s success with RCB’s bowling being a bit inexperienced and pacers Vinay Kumar and RP Singh not having the best of times. David Hussey is leading the team in the absence of an under-performing Gilchrist. Punjab’s bowling may be their strength, but with the imposing batting line-up of RCB, they will have their task cut out. To overcome the RCB-hurdle, they will have to come up with something special.
