The Jharkhand board (JAC) came into existence after the state of Jharkhand was born in November 2000. The school board of education sited in Jharkhand is referred to as JAC. JAC was set up under Jharkhand State Legislature and assented to by the Governor of the State as per the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Act 02.7.2003
