Ganesh Sonawane, who was arrested on November 6 for robbing a gold chain, had stated that he sold the item Nakoda Jewellers. But yesterday, when cops came calling, Mehta refused to come with them and also allegedly hit Sonawane in front of the police.u00a0

Cops took into custody six members of the association – who were hurling abuses at them – along with the shop owner, for opposing police work. “We have filed an FIR against the owner and others for preventing police work.

They were not cooperating with the cops, and the members even threatened our personnel,” said police inspector (crime) Parshuram Patil from Hinjewadi police station.u00a0
