Tabrez Ansari's father, Maskoor Ansari was also killed in a way similar to his son, fifteen years ago. According to locals, Maskoor was caught by a mob while committing theft in Bagbera area of Jamshedpur and was lynched.
The police are trying to find details of the incident. A case was registered at the Bagbera police station at that time. Mohammed Mosahid Khan, general secretary of Congress's district unit said that he had gone to Jamshedpur to bring Maskoor's body back to his village after it was identified.

An elderly woman who lived across the Jama Masjid road, said, "He, too, was caught by a crowd. He was beaten up and his throat slit. We were here when his body was brought back."
Local leader and social activist Subodh Kumar Jha said, "One day, residents of Ramnagar locality in Bagbera got hold of the man and he was beaten to death by an irate mob," he said.

BEST bus fares reduced, minimum fare down to Rs 5
After going back and forth on the issue of reducing the minimum fare for buses, the BEST Committee has finally decided to make the base charge Rs 5. The proposal will first be sent to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and then to the Metropolitan Regional Transport Authority for approvals, a process that would take less than a month. As per the new fare structure, price of tickets for regular buses will range from Rs 5 to Rs 20 and for AC buses from Rs 6 to Rs 25. (Read full story)
