The 38-year old who had left western India racing circuit years ago to pursue greener pastures in Hyderabad, celebrated in a big way in his former hometown when he scored cent percent success by driving all his four mounts on Saturday’s 11-race card to victories. His winners scored at such lucrative odds that if any of his fans had rolled only Rs 100 on all his four winners, he would have collected a close to Rs 4 lakh as dividend.

Chouhan’s quadruple included Good Thing (10-1), Hirohama (7-1), Kandinsky (3-1) & Grand Vitesse (10-1). Hirohama, stunned Shivalik Story near home in the 1,000-meter Brown University Trophy, the feature event of the card in which 15 class III runners participated. Hirohama was trained by former jockey-turned-trainer B Prakash for whom Chouhan also rode another winner in the last race of the card, the University Of Pennsylvania Trophy, when Grande Vitesse, lying near the wrong end of the field responded to Chouhan’s urgings and flew in the last furlong to spoil the party of Night Of Stars (J Chinoy up) who shaped like a winner until the sniffing distance from the winning post.
Chouhan’s least-priced winner was Kandinsky, trained by Vishal Gaekwad, who scored a decisive victory over Cha Cha Cha (Dashrath Singh up) and Multiglory (Trevor Patel up), unleashing a powerful run in the homestretch, to bag the Columbia University Trophy. Earlier in the day, Chouhan had scored astride lesser fancied Good Thing, trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha, to win the lower division of the Harvard University Trophy.
