To protest against the broad-daylight murder of Jyotirmoy Dey, editor, investigations, MiD DAY, a chain hunger strike has been organised outside Council Hall in the city yesterday.
To protest against the broad-daylight murder of Jyotirmoy Dey, editor, investigations, MiD DAY,u00a0 a chain hunger strike has been organised outside Council Hall in the city yesterday. Pune Union of Working Journalists (PUWJ), along with MiD DAY, Jagran and Cityplus, has appealed to Punekars to participate in the protest, which starts at 10am, to condemn the coward act of killing a journalist.
The hunger strike will continue till 6 pm. All members of PUWJ from different publications along with editorial and non-editorial staff of MiD DAY will participate. The gathering will also mount pressure on the government to make a stringent 'Working Journalists' Protection Act' to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
