Magnolia, the new furniture store at Worli, sprawling across 3,500 sq feet, has a chakki for a table, cycles turned into seats and a reason to do up your home again

Kadai as centre table, anyone?

What happens when a lawyer, an engineer and a businesswoman get together? Magnolia, a furniture store comes to life. A month old, Magnolia, spread across 3,500 sq feet offers two types of furniture.

Products at Magnolia cost between Rs 600 and Rs 1,00,000

u00a0“One is the straight-line furniture that easily fits into the décor of any home, and the other is old, restored pieces turned into funky, contemporary designs,” says 31 year-old Maulika Gandhi, the ex-lawyer who shared a passion for furniture with her engineer father, Pramod, and businesswoman mother Anuradha.

After a year’s research and development, the owner decided to house mostly solid wood furniture with products ranging from Rs 600 to Rs 1,00,000.

“We design our own line as well as source from artistes and companies from all over India. After being a lawyer for seven years, I was convinced it was time to follow my passion,” Gandhi tells us over the phone.

Some of their quirky products had us floored. They have a gigantic kadai that has been converted into a centre table, tyres and jute turned into casual seating, half cycle-half seater bar chairs, and even a solid wood masala pounder that has been transformed into a seating piece.

So if you have been toying with the idea of giving your home a new look, Magnolia may just be the place to explore.
