MP Suresh Kalmadi (in pic), who was supposed to arrive in Pune yesterday evening to meet the bus rampage victims at Sassoon Hospital, has postponed his plan. According to Kalmadi's close associates, he had to stay back in Delhi to complete some judicial formalities.
All 10 victims of Wednesday's mayhem admitted to the Sassoon Hospital are stable, said officials at the facility yesterday.
According to hospital officials, initially 13 patients were admitted, but two of them, Akiya Sardar (20) and Sarjerao Mastud (35) left the facility without doctor's consent, while 10-year-old Rushi Khandelwal was shifted to a private hospital.
"We have been monitoring the patients every two hours. The decision of discharging them will be taken only after they complete 72 hours of hospitalisation," said medical superintendent of Sassoon Dr DG Kulkarni.
He added that two patients Tanaji Kale (46) and Changdev Bhandvalkar (50), who underwent surgeries on the very day of the incident, were stable. Doctors are also planning to operate on three other patients soon.

"We have all the necessary medical equipment and adequate number of doctors to attend to the injured. As the state bus utility has announced to bear the expenses of the bus rampage victims, we can now hire costly equipment and provide them with the best possible care," said Dr Kulkarni.
On Wednesday morning, state transport driver Santosh Maruti Mane went on a maniacal ride through the city streets, killing eight and injuring 30 people.
