A Rohini trial court on yesterday extended the police remand of former Haryana Minister and key accused in Geetika Sharma suicide case, Gopal Kanda, by three days

Kanda's remand extended

The Delhi Police had requested for a seven-day remand for Kanda. Kanda was earlier sent to seven-day police custody on August 18 following his surrender and subsequent arrest and as a part of the probe, he was taken to various places, including his offices in Haryana from where the Delhi Police claimed to have recovered certain documents including various electronic devices.

Media misguided?
Kanda, who was taken to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital for a medical checkup yesterday, said, “Some politicians are trying to malign my image and are misguiding the media. But the truth will be unravelled,” he said.

Geetika’s family alleges that Kanda was harassing Geetika Sharma (23), a former airhostess with Kanda’s MDLR Airline. He has been charged with abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.

Searches at his office in Gurgaon have helped the police locate hard drives that allegedly have copies of emails between Kanda and Geetika.

The former Haryana Minister had gone underground which prompted Delhi Police to declare him as an absconder, while MDLR Airlines executive and Kanda’s associate Aruna Chaddha was arrested.

Sharma had alleged in her suicide note that she was ending her life due to harassment by Kanda and Chaddha. Both Kanda and Chaddha have, however, denied the allegations. –u00a0
