Karan Johar gets trolled for announcing Parineeti Chopra as Kesari's lead with Akshay Kumar's photo.

On Wednesday, Karan Johar took to his Twitter account to announce the female lead of his film 'Kesari', which has Akshay Kumar playing the titular role. However, Twitter went berserk over this announcement and mercilessly trolled the flamboyant filmmaker. Reason being, Karan made the announcement with Akshay Kumar's photo from the film, which did not go down well with the Twitterati. He had written, "The lead actress in #KESARI is ........PARINEETI CHOPRA! @ParineetiChopra (sic)."

Here are some of the hilarious memes that social media came up with:

After seeing the outrageous posts by netizens, Karan decided to re-announce Parineeti Chopra's casting in Kesari. "Ok guys that was meant to be an image of Kesari whilst announcing the lead actress of the film. Clearly Twitter is quick to jump and attack! Apologies!!!!! This is to re announce the wonderfully talented Parineeti Chopra as lead cast of Kesari (sic)," wrote the 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' maker.

Reportedly, Parineeti Chopra will be seen essaying the character of Akshay Kumar's wife in the film. Earlier, there were speculations of Katrina Kaif playing this role. However, it was later reported that Katrina backed out of the film considering Salman Khan's withdrawal as one of the film's producers. This will be Parineeti Chopra's second outing with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions after 'Hasee Toh Phasee' opposite Sidharth Malhotra.

'Kesari' is based on 1857 Battle of Saragarhi between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen.
