Kaustubh Pawar hits 89; Mumbai 235-5
Opener Kaustubh Pawar scored 89 as 39-time Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai reached 235-5 at stumps on Day One of their Ranji Trophy Group 'A' match against Madhya Pradesh yesterday. Pawar faced 270 balls that included 14 hits to the fences.
Among the Madhya Pradesh bowlers, medium-pacer Ishwar Pandey was the most successful claiming 4-28 in his 19 overs. Fellow seamer Anand Rajan bagged the other wicket.
Pawar and all-rounder Ankeet Chavan (36) shared an unbroken 80-run sixth wicket stand after Mumbai Lost two quick wickets. Pawar also added 68 runs with wicketkeeper Aditya Tare (42) for the fourth wicket.
Veteran opener Wasim Jaffer and Hiken Shah were shown the door quite early, but in-form Abhishek Nayar hit six boundaries in his 28.
