In the 19th minute, Brendon Gomendes ran down the left flank before cutting the ball in for Keegan to place in the left-hand corner of the net. In the second half, the Bandra side dominated the game, but missed two clear chances to double their lead as Brendon and Keegan were both off target in the 34th and 39th minute respectively.

Tough foes
"It was not an easy match for us today. Our opponents gave us a tough fight. I am glad we opened the season with a win," said 13-year-old Keegan. Meanwhile, Stanislaus coach Jaywant Pathak said that the training given to the team to play on a mucky ground helped them win.

"We were aware of the ground conditions at St Francis ground. That's the reason we made the children practice on a mucky ground. That helped them play well today," said Pathak.

Despite the loss, Dominic Savio coach Sachin Kudekar was happy with the team's performance. "It was a good competition between both teams. Our boys gave a tough fight and that's what is important," said Kudekar.
