Senior IPS officer BB Mohanty, who is also the father of rape convict Bitti Mohanty, did not play a role in forging documents that helped create a new identity for his son, the Kerala Police confirmed on Saturday. The former DGP (Home Guard), Odisha, was grilled for four hours by the Kerala police in Cuttack yesterday.

After the interrogation, the cops told reporters that the former DGP had identified his son too. Bitti Mohanty was convicted for raping a German national in Alwar in March 2006. He went on the run the same year while on parole. Earlier this month, the bespectacled youth was finally nabbed even though he had created a new identity for himself as Raghav Rajan, an MBA from Kerala.
Meanwhile Bitti was flown back to Kerala from Jaipur during the day. He had been brought to Rajasthan for investigations two days ago. The Kerala Police had yesterday said his school and college certificates from Odisha had been forged to establish Raghav Rajan’s identity.
